T7a Bootstrapping

Stuff that needs to be done (both infrastructure and org) to achieve WorldDomination.

To-do List

  • find or start a detailed xen cluster build/lab notebook in /afs/t7a.org/doc -- Steve
  • Make pretty picture showing xen/gnbd/rhcs/drbd architecture -- Steve
  • upgrade systemimager to 3.8.x (LL is at 3.7.3, so this should work) -- Steve
  • Finish upgrading n4h38 to 2.6.20 and drbd 8.X, or bail on it (n4h37 is still at 2.6.19)
    • right now we're stuck on systemimager install -- systemconfigurator says "FATAL: kernel too old"
  • Get partimage and windows cloning working -- Steve
  • Grok CLVM docs -- Everyone
  • Get CLVM and GNBD set up on storage servers and clients; n2h67 is currently set up as a prototype GNBD client (Ubuntu) -- Steve and Sean
  • Get LLC member agreement posted here -- Steve
    • Edit member agreement -- Steve, Sean, Erik
  • Kill performance bug and turn tracmarket back on -- Steve

Gold Server

Not needed with ISconf 4 -- DONE

Version Control

  • Version Control -- SVN, trac and tracmarket -- DONE
  • Get tracmarket plugin running on this site -- DONE

Host Install Tools

  • Host Install Tools -- install hosts without human intervention -- DEFER
    • systemimager is temporary install, on pioneer, needs to be moved to RAIDed and/or AFS storage

Directory Servers

  • DNS - ticket #15
    • PowerDNS
  • LDAP - ticket #14
  • steve builds new xen-3 image -- DONE
  • erik and steve try install on x330 -- DONE

Authentication Servers

  • set up CA -- DONE, see /root/ca on kdc1
  • issue certs for openvpn, SSL web sites, etc.
  • heimdal for kdc -- DONE

Time Synchronization

  • NTP -- DONE, probably needs rework

Network File Servers

  • AFS -- needs more space, more servers.

File Replication Servers
